I think the 86 ports are lower than the newer. the overall length was within .0015 thats 1.5 thousandths, the later cyl works better with the thin gasket. this was checked on the same block and same rod same piston within 5 minutes.

ok, I read my last post, the piston was not .003" proud it was .039" (above the deck). This was as high as i could get the deck, i had to use a Honda gasket i had in inventory since 86 that was .045 compressed compared to the cometic (wiseco) version thats only .012". This thick gaske...

you're using a 85-88 style jug with the large reed area, I looked at drilling the same style ports in mine, but witht he old jugs I cant get the port high engouh because of the lack of material, in the newer jug i could deffinately get it where i want it. I'm getting mine ready for the hillclimb sat...

its for high compression, when you're blowing out the spark on a single plug. Says it was a drag bike, likely was, theres a point where you load the engine so hard it simply cant jump a single spark.

I won't ever put a helicoil in a bike application, I eclusively use the pioneer insterts that are solid pieces, the 6mm case bolt inserts have a 10mm o.d. and are the best insert ever. i just had to put 6 10mm ones in some old 650 bike jug for a dude

the cuz just called me, factory connection says his stuff is junk, burned beyond repair. He also needs a complete trans for the bike, and some bearing spun in hte case. He ordered another new bike, and the suspension work is on hold.
