If you had a choice between an 87 or 97 motor [both rebuilt bearings/seals/clutch/top/etc.] to use in an 05 CRF450 conversion, which would you choose and why if I might ask.

Like the title say I'm having a 97 500 motor split to check on overall condition hoping that it ends up in an AF chassis.
Being new to this level of work, are their any "must do" mod I should have done before it gets buttoned back up?

I see everyone putting 2T 500s into late model 4T frames. What's up with converting a 01 250 2T into a 500?
