I always run a silencer in the dunes! Where are you riding? Every Banshee out there has T5's on it anyways and there silencers too. I run S/A at OHV parks and trail riding and that's it. Run it!!!!!!!!!! We ride out near the Nellis area north of Vegas, you don't have to have a S/A there yet, and a ...

A problem I had with them, was one the screen would clog up and the bike would run like garbage, also be bombing along get back to the truck and look to see it, and it had fallen off somewhere. Keep an eye on E-bay for a whole spark arrestor silencer or just save your beans and buy a new one. That ...

I don't have the cash right now, and I'm not sure how soo I would even need one. I still need to get the top end done, but I git a paddle for cheap and started looking into the dunes for something new. I'm not too worried about the noise, but I suppose if I get a ticket for it, I'll have to do somet...

Looks like a turbine core to me??? Post a pic of the inside. [/color] When I look down the end, there is nothing inside, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't have one. Is it possible to replace the end cap to get it arrested? I don't think anything I have ever owned has had a spark arrestor. It will say &...

I need help with my silencer. FMF? Spark arrestor?

My silencer has an FMF sticker, but I'm not sure that it is. I know that the head pipe is FMF though. I'm interested in getting a spark arrestor to ride at the dunes. Can anyone tell me if for sure this is an FMF pipe and where I can get an arrestor? I contacted FMF, but have not gotten a response y...

Friend looking for a rolling chasis

One of my friends picked up a crashed '03 CBR 600 and has decided to shoehorn the motor into a dirt frame to make some kind of crazy motard. Do any of you AF guys have a 500 '90 and up without a motor? he is near St. Louis, but said he may be willing to drive to get it.

Ill have to get some. I think I'm going to have to take everyone's advice, save up the money and just re-do the whole top end. Does anyone have any idea how much a sperm bank would pay?

dude, that piston is showing some nasty signs of blowby and possibly a worn bore. I would really bore it, the rings will be a waste of time... it get the ring to work you need to hone it like south central said and if you do...well... you are already pushing it on a worn out bore. sorry, but that t...

I finally got it all apart, it turned out to be a Vertex. I went to the shop by work to order some rings, but he can't get them. I think I ready somewhere that Vertex rings are interchangeable with OEM, but I'm not sure. I would prefer to use Vertex rings with the Vertex piston. Any idea where I ca...

I have the piston number, but I need the number for the rings or to find out if OEM rings can be used on it. It is a Vertex 2 ring design with 1183 on the inside of the skirt. I figure the guy that had the bike before me must have got a good deal on the Vertex since they stopped selling in the US. O...

Another thing I'm wondering is, should I some how try to get the residual black sludge out of the exhaust, or when I get it tuned right will it eventually clean itself out?

" what is your compression? why did you tear it down? " It just doesn't seem to have to compression that it should. Kicks really easy in comparison to others. I know that I should do the whole top end to get the best performance, but I can't afford to do it all right now, but I still want ...

How can I figure out what brand of piston I have?

I don't have the compression that I should have in comparison to other 500's. I checked the cylinder and the walls look decent. I can't afford to do the whole piston right now, so I'm going to try a fresh set of rings. 90.00 is stamped/engraved into the top of the piston. I think the previous owner ...

I'm about 260. riding style isn't too crazy, no big jumps or anything.
