Unfortunately, I didn't do this one . . . . it could have been tight, but the guy who did it is usually pretty good. It could also be a cheap shit rod kit, I guess ? Oh well, as long as it isn't something that is likely to happen again, I guess the outcome could have been a lot worse ! I got all the...

G'day Adam,
What would cause the bearing cage, thrust washer and packing to stick together though. There's buckets of oil in there ! That big end is less than 40 hours old . . . Have I over revved it ?

https://bannedcr500riders.com/images/auto/086a18aef1dd87da2203c0ae0ea9502b.jpg Sounded like I'd knocked a big end out, but when I stripped it, I found the sheetmetal crank packing had cracked and flown apart. I had just fitted a new PWK, and was doing jetting runs. I thought I was doing the smart t...

take the case bushings out and have them put in a lathe and opened up some. that way you can always throw another set in to run in older chassis They are as hard as fuck, you need tungsten carbide tools, or better, to even scratch them. Might be better to just have stainless ones made, and make a s...

Doesn't seem to have any. I would think it would idle up higher (run lean) if there were. Performance seems no different - low, mid, and top end of the rev spectrum feels the same. No difference in how the power comes on compared to without the spacer. Will work with it tomorrow evening. Easiest wa...

These were marketed as Robson rods in Australia, and I bought some at an agricultural show years ago. Only thing I've ever used them for is bike radiators, and they work really well. It is only aluminum 'soldering' though, not welding, as there is no melting and fusing of the parent metal. Worth hav...

Can anyone tell me for sure if the Rekluse Z start pro for a 2009-2011 CRF450R will fit the CR500. I'm led to believe the earlier (2005-2008) ones did . . . ? Roosty ?

Re: would anyone mind taking some head tube measurements?
Yep, it was a pretty tongue-in-cheek question . . . . That thing is worth more than gold to a standard CR500 owner !Scotty wrote:other wrote:Hey, do you want to sell me the ADR compliance plate, mate ?Scotty wrote: I believe i have a 2001 steel frame from a CRE500:

And what would the advantage of this be ? It seems, even on a fully finned air-cooler, the tolerances have to be slacker than liquid cooled equivalents, with the subsequant loss of horsepower. How much worse would it be on that stubby finned thing ? When I was a kid riding small capacity air cooled ...

It will bend in T6 temper. Warm it a little, and really, just take the chill off it. If you heat it too much, you will affect the temper. I put masking tape on it, and warmed it with either MAPP gas or electric heat gun, but stop before the tape even discolours or curls. Then bend V-E-R-Y S-L-O-W-L-...
