Mine is an 08 X model, and I'm using the CRF filter no problem. Dump the backfire screen (reed valve on a 2T prevents any possibility of igniting the filter), and most importantly, remove the snorkel off the top of the airbox, and cut the whole top of the box out. Because I retained my battery, I co...

Kuma is absolutely right. Just align the punch marks, pop the assembled mechanism into place so that the engagement pawl sits under the plate, and then hook the spring in. This involves about a 1/8 turn or less, clockwise as you look at it.

There are dot punch marks on the ratchet gear and kickstart shaft. these need to be aligned. You replaced a gearbox main shaft, but struggle with the simple kicker mechanism ? . . . . have you checked that your gearbox works ? !

Decompression scallops to ease starting . . . standard on all CR5's, and most other non power-valve big-bore 2 strokes. Is that your barrel up at 360 S&C ? if so, dood, that needs some attention from a hone !

That looks like a stock 87 to me, apart from the seat which shouldn't be red on an 87 . . . possibly an 88, or at least an 88 seat-cover ? ? But then again, what the hell do I know !? haha Engine number will confirm it for you once and for all . . . . that's an interesting decompressor in the "...

Pack out and reduce the crank case volume, in order to "pressurise" the fuel/air charge, and really force it up the transfer ports as the piston descends. I tried my Maico 490 without crank packing (God knows why !) in the 80's, and I reckon my next door neighbors kids moped could have giv...

I can't speak for all systems, but the EFI on the old cannondales were open loop systems, they rely on the tune programed into the system and use TPS and CPS to determine what part of the map to use, I would think the CR would do something similar? aren't there still some 2 stroke sleds that are EF...

Yep, the Keith Paterson bike was what set me off on this fools errand . . . You can clearly see in the vid, the "tune and run" mixture setting, rather than automatic on the fly adjustments by the EMU. They have chosen set their throttle body in a downdraught configuration (presumably with ...

other, what bike are you putting injection onto? I would love to figure out a way to get FI on my 500 as I am buying a 2-moto snow track kit for it and would love to be able to forget about trying to jet for hot summer and cold winter with everything in between. The EFI is going on a CR500, but on ...

I just like to mess with stuff. I have 2 iron bored CR500's, which I wont mess with, but I also have an old Gen 2 that I use just for 'fiddling' with shit. For example, I have a PWK on my Gen 4 that is pretty hard to fault, but I am still trying to get Fuel Injection sorted. . . . no real good reaso...

Dumb question time . . . . Brand new stock jug 89.0 bore, brand new stock cast piston, brand new standard rings . . . . wash the Honda honey off the bore, slip the rings in with the slug so they sit square, end gaps measure 19 and 20 thou. . . . . is this about right ?
