I found out today that a 2004 crf250 lower triple clamp will not work on a crf450 frame  the 450 lower steering head flares out wider than the 250 and hits the steering stops, so its off to ebay for some triples. i did get the faceplate for the airbox done and a template for the headstay mount...

Didn't know where to post this, so here it goes!
Does anybody know of a CR500 diecast, toy? Any scale.
I tried searching but only found some 250.
Thank you

i have most of mine changed over now., you have to use the big 8mm bolt rotor to match the newer bikes. I have a Cr500 94 rear wheel, so it should fit my CRF450 if I put : -CRF bearing -Bigger rotor from a 1997-01 (from a 250 I guess? because 89-01 500 rotor all have same parts # from what I saw ) ...

Piston difference CR480-CR500 ?
I have a Wiseco 636M09000 here that is said to be for 90-01 CR500. Part # for the CR480 is different (Wiseco).
OEM have the same part #.
Would my piston fit in a cr480 1983 ? I'm asking because I might sell it to someone if it works.
Thank you.

Looks good! I am betting your problems will be solved if the welder knows what he's doing, and is pre heating the billet parts Speaking of that, how long or what temp should be achieve while preheating? You would preheat just the billet parts? Not the rest (little brackets, frame rails etc...?) Als...

Put some holes in that solid (well , I assume that's what it is) chunk of alloy the plates are going to. It's a head steady, on an AF it really isn't an integral part of the frame strength / engine interface, as it is on a steel, back bone frame. Looks good. You mean I should drill some holes (or a...

Here's what I managed to fab as my next headstay, you think it should be OK? I'm using '02 CR125 upper engine mounts. http://www.bannedcr500riders.com/gallery/albums/userpics/normal_100_2132.JPG And before anyone ask, no this is not a gap in this pic, just shadow! http://www.bannedcr500riders.com/ga...

When i'm looking for an OEM bolt of a specific lenght, I just go on a website selling OEM parts (like babbitsonline) and I enter the make (honda) and 10x162 (or any other size!) and it gives me all the application for this bolt. Sometimes you have to try a couple of time to find the closest lenght y...

I'm curious about what others have to say about this headstay. It seems like there is alot of controversy about what works best.

bearoso your the man answered in full blackz34 when you get your new frame welded cut some tube the same lenght as the engine bosses and put it in the mounts to simulate the motor being bolted in this also helps the material to return to the same position after being welded good luck Will do, thank...

Well, what I plan to do now is to bend 2 new tubes, fit them making sure there is no tension in them. Have them welded, then have the 4 engines mounts welded. And I think I might use the 125 headstay bracket so I will have to weld a block on the shock tower too. Keep the suggestion/comments coming, ...

I'll put my 2 cents in again on this subject- my first frame had a neat hoop design that used the 450 mounts and went around the back of the head. From the start the bike vibrated too much and the head stay continually cracked. The nipples on the radiators cracked after only a few months. The next ...

After looking at Gregbro's headstay, I would still be slightly concerned about the length of the mounts. Seems like there would be considerable leverage side to side. Well, maybe I could do a combination of what I have and what Greg has. Or just something like Greg, I thought about it at first but ...

By this I mean did you set the alignment at the swingarm and weld up the front where it sat . This is what I did. I first put the engine with the swingarm bolt tighten and we tacked the Y, the tube and the 2 lower mount in place. I removed the engine so the welder can finish the welds. Then I put b...

I saw a Service Honda the other day and it had the billet Y with the front mount cut in it like Greg's pic. I think it may be stronger in the way that you don't have to weld the mount and that eliminates the risk of weakening the tube above the front mount like where my frame cracked. (http://banned...

Maybe from bending tube in T6 condition or head stay not providing enough support??? :?: I did bent the tube in T6 condition, but the tube cracked in the straight part, not where it was bent so I don't think this is the issue for now. The head stay may not be the best design though. if I remember, ...

Got my CR500AF running since a couple of weeks and I discover a little hairline crack on the front of the frame at the upper Y weld. So we grooved the crack, rewelded it and put a 1/4 plate over it to reinforced. Looks like it did the job but on the next ride I did at a local MX track the 2 craddle ...
