Thanks juddy, I kind of figured there was some kind of reaction between the carbon steel brush and aluminum. It looks nothing like the aluminum I sprayed (etched). And my SS brushes should be here any day.

Well I have learned lots. First, what YOU need to know, my goal is a factory new look, not a polished bling look. For the first time I used a rotary tool (Dremel). WOW, that thing can be adictive. I had to keep telling myself "new, not bling". The best thing about the Dremel is getting in ...

HAVE: E-Line 200w/ WANT: SH Ignition

I have a E-Line Lighting Coil. I MIGHT be willing to trade for a SH ignition. (Gen 1). I am tired of waiting for gen2. I don't need 200 watts.

Shanman, what do you mean by inserts? I was just going to drill & tap for maybe 2 8mm bolts, if that part of the frame is indeed solid.

I guess the first thing I will have to do after my rebuild, is learn how to post pic's. In the interest of better handling and mostly, less fatigue, I am putting the coil, cdi, and battery between the skid plate,(carbon fiber) and the engine. There is lots of room. This will take 2lbs 4oz and lower it...

Adam, thoes look exactly like what I was thinking. I will let you know if they will work. If I can bolt it to the frame, I will have more room for the battery

Bob, thanks. It certainly LOOKS solid, I just thought I would try and get confirmation before I start drilling.

Frame Components

I hope someone knows,

On a 2002 CR250r. The lower frame component between the footpegs. It appears to be solid, or billet. If it is I want to drill & tap holes in it to mount the skidplate. Can anyone tell me without any doubt?

Most of my riding includes or is mostly gnarly. Overheating in the snow below freezing temps is (was) common. simple solution was a KTM fan.
About $100. END OF PROBLEM PERIOD

I had not read the previous pages when I made my last post.It was worth a few chuckles to go back. What got me so excited is, that is what my store bought Gen 3 looked like when it was new.(well, almost  ) Now I am motivated to make it LOOK as new as well as being mechanicaly new. I hope this i...

Crank

What is the story on the tin on the crank? Does it need to be there? What
is its purpose? what are the effects of removing it? My crank should arrive at Surf & Turf tomorrow, So I have options.

Thanks, Rick

Relevant?

There is a broken tap in the hole on the frame where the top gas tank bolt should go. It has been there since I received the bike in 2003. (2002 CR250R Frame). The well respected KTM shop owner said something like useing heat (torch) and possibly "popping it out". Assuming he doesnt melt a...
