I sent a PM to Gravel Scratcher, but haven't heard back yet. Anybody know if he's made any progress? I'm also interested in learning the ins and outs of the Gen5 conversions. The 250f's have been out for a year and the 450's for two, so soon there'll be plenty of blown-up Gen5 donors. Pave the way, ...

I own two CR500's, the 96 which I converted and a 94 steelie, and the stock stays look nothing like the ones Bob pictured. Honda didn't zig-zag either of mine for a reason. In fact, they didn't zig-zag them at all. Both of mine came with perfectly straight, flat roughly 2-3 inch triangles with littl...

Shane, I'm sure everyone on here would recommend a lot of reading of the many (many!) various posts here. Pay special attention to the list of completed builds in the sticky. Far and away the easiest and usually cheapest build would be a Gen 1 (97-99) CR250 build. It requires no frame mods other tha...

While I am a fan of the tuneability of the Super Trapp, no, that's not the one. Someone sold a 2stroke silencer that incorporated an endcap that tapered inward. From the outer edge a rod traveled into the taper and had a flat head on the end (picture a nail pointing out of the center of the silencer...

I know this is old news to most, but carefully repack whatever silencer you choose with quality packing (such as Silent Sport) and pack it loosely. It won't last as long when packed loosely, but it is quieter. And while you're in there, if the silencer is not new, make sure that the perforated sting...

I just sold the pipe from my 02 CR250 chassis donor to a guy who races an 03 CR250 in the woods here. He has an FMF pipe and s/a silencer, V-force reed assy, a flywheel weight and lower gearing and says he loves it in the woods, although he admits that he has to work a little harder than some of his...

x3. I also copied Algavas' build with helpful tips from Danny and others. Coolest bike I've ever owned by far. And, by the way, it's also a 2002. With Algavas' instructions, Shanman's front mounts and the talent of my welder/fabricator, my bike turned out great. And, like Danny says, my cylinder BAR...

That is one fine ass ride, yota. Way back in the 80's, I had a gray seat cover custom-made by Ceet to match some graphics I put together (just a bunch of stickers back then). A seat cover with black on top and dark gray on the sides would be a sweet compliment to your graphics. Otherwise, a black SD...

Bike looks great...and you did it the hard way, rounding up parts as you went. The anticipation was probably killing you on those last few parts, eh? One word of advice, though: you should move that front brake line to the inside of the fork so it doesn't snag something, like a fellow rider's footpe...

Dyno Port exhaust
Dyno Port makes a 2-into-1 exhaust kit that would be great for this application. I'm sure there is a performance cost somewhere in the powerband, even though Dyno Port says there's not. It would be a heckuva lot easier than routing a pipe down BOTH sides.

tubing thickness
I'm starting my 2002 CR250 conversion this week and I have a question. I notice Balaclava, Algava, and Danny Graves, among others, have used pegs to fill in the lower cut. What size is that peg? Or what is the wall thickness of the tubing so I can calculate? I know Bob posted that his tubing is .125...

Hello all. Sorry no pics yet, but I just bought a 94 cr500 a few months ago and am about to pick up a cr250 (04) roller to convert. A friend of mine turned me on to this site several months ago and the more I read, the more I got reeled in...now I'm hooked! This site is the shiznit!!! I can't wait t...
