I had thought of doing that years ago, glad to see you doing it. The one thing I wanted to do was make a sleeve with a bridge intake . A bit more support back there would in my opinion double a pistons useful life.

I still pop in from time to time. Haven't been able to ride much since I moved out to the farm I'm on now. Hoping to knock a few miles down this season if possible, but my old gang pretty much split up, and it is I alone now. Still have both 500s, the niner is going thru a full restore, Dan's bike j...

I roostie and others have welded cases. I know I hear quite a bit about broken cases from the kicker, seems like it usually happens after a rebuild, I always wonder if it has something to do with the clocking of the mechanism? it should be the foot peg stopping the kicker and not the inside of the ...

It's not a production run stator, all coils were virtical and these are horizontal. Rito, been a while since I've seen one, or used one. We hand made a 4 pole for my 01, puts out good lighting power. I could never got a coil that style to give more than 45 watts no matter how we wound it. Reckon I ...

Looks like a standard 40w aftermarket lighting coil to me. A decent setup like a Ray Halogen with a 35w halogen bulb give you a decent trail safety headlight. It get you by in a pinch, but not good for dedicated night riding.

I think I may have gotten 200 miles in stateside, probably that in Aus this past July. My riding has kinda suffered the last 3 years, one buddy cant keep a license, the other, finally had to call it a day, as he cant get his shit together financially. I got out a whole 4 times on Dans bike, one an e...

Bought a bike, found Larrys CR500 board.....

And the rest, of course is history..... Been thinking back on it lately, how my 98, the fabled "Niner", made me lots of friends over the years on these boards. I'm sure lots of you heard of Larrys, the original 500 board, the one that spawned the 2 in existence today. I had the pleasure of...

Say what you will; it works fine. Honestly, you're shortchanging yourself by not using the newer clamps. Sure, the twin chamber dampening is much better, but using the beefier clamps improves the handling tenfold. This should tell you the story, heres a set of clamps from a later model CRF and a '0...

You know, it's kinda funny how the steering stem thing is. I used to buddy with a guy that had hundreds of vintage bikes and a shop full of equipment, until it burned up. He always searched for these forks and those to fit what he needed because all the vintage bikes had skinny forks. One day he wa...

Yes, the forks slid right into the stock CR500 triple clamps, I torqued them to whatever the manual said, and have 3 rides on them without issues. Definitely noticed a difference (better) with the twin chamber forks. Might be my stock forks need a little tuning. And that's the monkeys with hatchets...

Re: 2001 CR 250 Froks On 1990 CR 500!

I've been told that a 2001 Cr 250 front end will fit on the 1990 CR 500. Any truth to this or has anyone actually done this? Thanks! Old post, but you can put just about any front end on there you want. 2 ways to go about it First, there is the All Balls conversion bearing kit Or My favorite way, j...

Was kickin this idea around the first of the yr. It wasn't that Tech Care did a bad job on my forks a couple yrs ago, which really, they did a fine job, but the thought of having some "modern twin chamber" latest and greatest out front sounded very appealing. Of course, the usual lets see ...
