I've been trying to figure that out. If you search clutch in OEM parts its listed as #6 in the exploded view but they skip that # in the part#/price section... I looked in the manual and it labels the part as a "clutch center". If I wasn't such a retard with computers I would post the pic.

clutch center

I've been searching the OEM sources for a clutch center for a 97' with no luck. Any suggestions?

quick question

I recently picked up a basket case 96 motor to rebuild for an eventual AF build. It didn't come w/ the CDI. Will I need to pu a 500 CDI or will I be able to use the donor bikes unit?

Yeah that was one of my concerns from reading some of the older posts. Allthough it seems like guys have had success with it . Roostus> from a performance standpoint what do you think of the 87-88s compared to the later engines?

Ok. The guy is asking 350.00 for it and it supposedly has the pipe and carb. Don't know yet what else there is. Ive been having trouble meeting up with him on my weird schedule and he is a bit of a flake. I'll assume the whole thing needs rebuilt but with a new clutch case that will def add a bunch....

pre 89 motor

Is it worth doing an AF build with a pre 89 motor? Ive been wanting to get moving on this project for a while and it looks like I have a line on an 87 or 88 500 engine ( the seller doesn't know what year the bike was). I don't have an AF frame yet. My plan was to get the motor 1st.

I understand I'm a little late to this party but am hoping it lasts for a while longer. I'm grateful for all the valuable info on here. Hope there are still some Hoons around Vegas. I have a 96' CR 500 I bought new back in the day and am embarrassed to say I haven't ridden it in the 3 years since I'...
