here we go again, i am bidding on a cr500 cylinder that is stock bore and comes with the piston, started at 99c so i bid it up to 70, then poof the war starts. i push it up to 90 but someone chips away at it passing me up so now i am chipping at him up tp 125. now with shipping it is 145. man every ...

thanks for the tip, i was also told the stator is prone to problems too.
seems to be a tank of a bike from what i have been told. i will ride it the rest of this season then ill sell it in spring to get my new kawasaki versys.

its a 78 suzy gs550 its a one owner that belonged to a doctor. he used it to commute to college then garaged it. it shined up real nice. 400 bucks. it should pay for itself with 50+ mpg.

i disagree, seasoning is for engine blocks, not pistons, if you used it in the same motor it came out of ,sure it would work great, but every engine is different. the heat is in different points as well as the forces upon the structure of the piston. it would be just asking for a crack if the piston...

yeah. in wrong or broken parts im in it about 400 . with the wrong 85 rod and unuseable .80 over piston and my eggshaped jug and about three base gaskets. at leas my bottom end is new now. i just got a job at a kawasaki/arctic cat shop . so hopefully i can afford it soon. damn bike has got me workin...

well i have my new (long)rod installed and after bolting the top end in it was still only like 115 p.s.i. so i tore it down again. i measured the clearance and it is good but then i measured the bore......it is eggshaped. the cylinder is loosing it above the exhaust port. it is on its last bore too,...

you shouldnt use compression braking on a 2 stroke. on a four stroke it is fine but most ring vs. exhaust port damage occours when decelerating using the motor to pull you down. its best to just pull the clutch and use your brakes.
