Re: STIC metering block

Adam I'm looking forward to reading Motorcross Action Magazine next month with your CR500.
I heard it has the STIC in it?
Any prelims you can share about the test before magazine is on the shelves?
November MXA correct?

Re: STIC metering block

No I sent in 2 STIC to George and waiting for the updates next week (although I'll be in Egypt when they arrive) Here is Georges latest post from KTMtalk aSTIC instructions with JD Jetting. For maximum performance; the new JD Jetting kit for the STIC metering Block is highly recommended. The STIC tu...

Re: Fouling spark plugs on std service Honda 2012

What happens when you put in regular 91 octane at 50:1?
Also never heard of that plug in this engine before. BR8ECM has a 2.5mm tip vs CR5 standard 1.5mm tip BR8EG plug.

Re: STIC metering block

Interesting, in the 2015 300 xcw has 36 mm Keihin carb 0.114 emulsion tube has 50 pilot Suzuki NECJ needle and 190 main. Tad rich down low.
I bet with your Pulse Injector it's an unbeatable combination.

Re: STIC metering block

The science is kind of like a vortex tube technology however what appear to be venturi's of varying sizes are drilled into the emulsion tube/needle jet at 60 degree? angles. Somehow (George is 76 yrs) is able to exhaust the hot air in the fuel bowl and use it to break down the fuel/air into that vap...

Here is the baseline setting difference between the PJ and PWK. PWK settings are at the bottom of this info. Your 5.5 slide is richer, which will help with the 42 pilot. Likely start with air screw only 0.5 turn out to get a richer mixture. Here are some base line settings for water cooled bikes. Th...

I would recommend a 175 main jet to be safe starting point.
I'm pretty sure that 165 could be to lean for that C series needle.
The C needle doesn't taper off to the tip as quickly as a D needle does hence the need for a larger main jet. Cheap $10 fix to prevent a melt down.

2004 CR125 frame. Has the stock tank. An stock oversize tank should fit as well? Has anyone tried oversize on the 125? http://www.ebay.com/itm/IMS-Large-Capacity-Gas-Tank-3-1-gal-Color-Natural-Gas-Tank-Large-Capacity-/331019369024?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2004|Model%3ACR125&a...

Whats your elevation? Average humidity? Your 1368 is a CGJ. 168 seems lean for the C series. 168 would be good for D series needle. 42 pilot is a good starting point. 5 cutaway is richer than 6 and effects are 1/8 to 1/4 throttle range. It should run just be careful if you run that 168 main and are ...

I've never ridden the 85 - 89 CR5s. -Had an 84 CR5 air cooled model. It started good and spun the wheel lots. -Stock 97 engine in a 2001 aluminum frame. (hated the handling) -Now a 2004 aluminum frame with a 94 engine w/ Roosty Maximus w/ ported case, cylinder head, programmable ignition and 38 pwk ...

Some of the guys at the other site think it might be a bad CDI or woodruff key like you mentioned. The woodruff key is good, checked. Carb is 38mm pwk with throttle position sensor which somehow talks to the programmable map in the cdi. Carb has been torn down and checked. By replacing all the ignit...

What does Kickback mean when Kickstarting?

So I've purchased this new conversion but never have been able to kick-start the engine and looking for some new opinions. (I can only get engine running by push starting down the hill and it will run normal except from idle to 1/8 throttle where it either 1/Dies 2/Bogs over 10 secs 3/ Delay off id...

Dyno Tune and remap

Usually the best bang for the $$ is getting the fuel injection remapped with a dyno tune. Will optimize the air/fuel ratio at various rpms to give a little better tq/hp and even a bit better fuel economy.

I'm sure with the oilsands this place will grow for the next 20 years. Its so busy I can barely find anyone to ride with. I'll likely join the RMDRA this year to fill those gaps.

500's

Dubious one, I know the area very well. Lots of places to go. Much of the terrain is fairly similar in the Calgary foothills area and I think gets better closer to Coleman/Pinscher Creek...Sometimes more mud to the north.

Hmm interesting. The 6.0 slide seems unaltered. Ebay seller "formulaguy" described it as follows: "Brand New 39.5mm Keihin PWK carb, smooth bored closer inlet of 40mm. Nice power add on." - When I get to the dunes I'll throw in a 55 pilot, I have a 60 as well. I know 50 seemed th...

I was reading old posts (3 times) of Bob's on the other site that said ProX was the way to go hehe! And thats what I installed. The carb is (almost new) bought from the guy on Ebay who has been selling a CR500/lectron carb methanol engine for a hefty price. It's honed to 40mm, seems good just can't ...

I pulled the jet block off as well, blew all 3 ports/circuits out (they were clear anyway). The jet block gaskets are all nicely glued in place. Every port/hole/britincali on the carb is clear and clean. She's all paddle tired up and in the truck. It'll just have to feather the throttle all weekend....
