every honda wiseco crank i've known of in the last few months has blown the cans off and destroyed the cases. Roosty, Are the cans really needed, case stuffing used to be the idea but hasn't there been a swing to more case volume is better nowadays ? I have a new in the box wiseco rod kit and wonde...

Roosty - no I hadn't included the piston dome.. Maybe my technique was not the best, I did 2 heads at the same time, an HF1 with a .032" step and an ML3R with about .007" step - not much.. The ML3 was sold to me as a high comp head, now i know that hi-comp more likely means shaved to shit ...

ok, so when did milling the head NOT affect the squish ? my engine builder said don't go under .060" squish with pump gas and safer to run .080" I reckon that means .090" for me and someone running race gas .060" or less is fine if you know what your doing, i have a head that loo...

I'm running a trailtech vapor with the temp sensor inline with the rad hose a couple inches from the head, I know that an engine can fail due to a heat seize before I picked up an over heat but the chances are I'll see it if its trending to run hot, this thing keeps the max temp recorded so at least...

I ran into this same issue, ordered a set of cases from SH and they said they could only deliver the RH case or needed numbers for a LH case, not just any LH case it had to be a LH case sold in America and proof of ownership .. another supplier in the US simply said they were not made anymore, so I ...

Have you looked at the sticky thread: Gearing Calculator ? http://www.bannedcr500riders.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=10193 These bikes just seem to laugh at gearing changes taking them effortlessly, big variations are tolerated so its easy to get just want you want except for a wider ratio box, on my 9...

The PMB gets a big thumbs up from me, fit on my 97 steely is perfect, had this on my 96 cr250 for a while and fit was brilliant as well, these things are so well out of the way and nice to use, value for money and functionality gets an A+ here. I fit the axle bolt so that the triangle can be used on...

I ran into what I think is the same issue with an 87 engine in a 97 bike, during the build I swapped to the late model clutch & covers and a mint kickstarter, with the dots lined up on the old kickstarter shaft assembly it was either hitting the tank or pipe, tank was stock and pipe was PC, was ...

On motors that rev high like the 250 then revs is the trick, they usually have little if any you can shave off a head, the thermal coupling is so important that you need to beware when the head gasket is like .010' steel, same for 500 depending on the head used... the head shave without altering por...

Did you buy it? one of the best engines honda made for sure, the water cooling just above the intake means a denser charge sorta like an early morning ride, that is if its all still cool for the water cooling, ie your not cooking it all with lean out fast racing or long wfo, longer warm up but nice ...

Jetting and porting etc are so closely related with a big effect, I should have said i'm running an 87 engine and the porting was stock when i gave it to my engine builder, he blue prints and never changes the top of any port height for a good reason and that is he knows that he's not screwing with ...

Re: street

I run 50:1 Amsoil Dominator in all my 500's and 250's. This includes a street legal supermoto, a bike I only run in the dunes and a woods 250. The biggest problem with all these posts is people not knowing how to jet an engine in the first place. 32:1, 40, 50 whatever. I've never had a top end seiz...

i doesnt really matter if 10 pistons are 10 different sizes, you bore each hole to piston size. run lots of weisco here and it really seems like you need to know the engine shop who do your bore job, had one one suzuki 250 some years ago and the bore job was bad, i measured it out of round and they...

On my street legal 500 I'm running premix 40:1, gearing is 42/15, engine is 87 in a 97 steely so the same tranny ratios as the 93 onwards, jetting in the 39 PWK is only slightly rich with 55 pilot and 180 main, still altering the jetting to suit back road use but it really likes the 55, probably spe...

did you ensure your head gasket is big enough for that bore? did you cut the head squish band larger to match the larger bore? lastly, I have had a prox short cct around the exhaust port, due to the narrow face of the piston as roostius has explained and shown pictures of, and it was unjettable, at...
