Case/shock clearance

I've read a few threads and understand this is a common practice. My question is what tools are you guys using to accomplish this "divot"
Was considering a drum type sander.

I've got a 19 CRF450 frame. 94 500 engine.

TIA

I found this post during a search for CR500 to KYB SSS conversion. I'm looking for some help if anyone knows how to do this?

Cases

Just wanted to verify an 89 left side case will work on a 94?
It seems like it would from what I've read, but I wanted to run it by you guys.
TIA👍

You really need to read Jerc's build post on the other site, and mine on this site, and the other site. The new wye is shorter, and does not have the radiator cross over hole. the way to position the wye is to use an engine, or preferably a jig that has the head mount, use the head stays you got in...

Does this look about right as far as where to cut the Y? Also, for anyone who's done this conversion. How far down the rails should you cut? Im using the billet Y. I highly recommend the billet wye that Jercs makes. He also includes some very nice head stays.

Review his build post on the other site. Mine is on this site and that site as well.

Nice find
